I am posting the final Common Iowan Straw Poll before the Iowa caucuses, asking who do you support to be the Democratic nominee for President in 2008.
Here are the results from November.
The poll will run until January 2nd and will be located in the upper left of the page.
**Update**
I had some problems with the layout of the blog. While trying to fix it, the results of the poll were lost, so I had to reset the poll.

Results of the November Common Iowan Straw Poll
The voting for the November Common Iowa Straw Poll ended earlier this week. A record 684 voters were cast.
Here are the results (September results in parenthesis)...
Chris Dodd 23% (45%)
Joe Biden 19% (2%)
Barack Obama 19% (11%)
John Edwards 17% (30%)
Dennis Kucinich 11% (1%)
Bill Richardson 4% (11%)
Hillary Clinton 3% (2%)
The results don't mean much, except to give a little insight on how strong a candidates support is online. Last month's winners (Dodd, Edwards, and Richardson) weren't nearly as strong this month. While Biden, Obama, and Kucinich increased their numbers. I did track visitors coming from Biden's and Obama's campaign blog, while some Dodd supporters came via Facebook.
I will post a new poll right before the caucuses.

Results of the Common Iowa Presidential Straw Poll
About a month ago, I posted a poll asking who do you support to be the Democratic nominee for President in 2008.
In the past, these polls have been somewhat of a decent showing of what readers of this blog thought. However, this poll caught on with supporters from the Dodd, Richardson, and Edwards campaigns and the results are skewed in that direction. The interesting thing however, is that many of the people who voted for Chris Dodd seemed to come to the site from Facebook. The poll was posted on a Richardson blog and that drove much of his votes. I couldn't find any pattern that showed where the Edwards supporters came from. There was 905 votes in the poll.
Here are the results...
1. Chris Dodd 43%
2. John Edwards 30%
3. Bill Richardson 11%
4. Barack Obama 7%
5. Hillary Clinton 2%
6. Joe Biden 2%
7. Dennis Kucinich 1%
8. Mike Gravel 0%
You can see results from past polls here.

Results of the August Straw Poll
Here are the results with 92 votes being tallied.
August Straw Poll: Who do you support for the Democratic Nomination for President in 08? April Results are in parenthesis.
1. Russ Feingold 29% (35%)
2. John Edwards 22% (12%)
3. Al Gore 12% (14%)
4. Tom Vilsack 9% (5%)
4. Wesley Clark 9% (-)
6. Mark Warner 5% (19%)
7. Hillary Clinton 4% (1%)
8. John Kerry 3% (2%)
9. Bill Richardson 3% (6%)
10. Joe Biden 2% (2%)
11. Evan Bayh 1% (4%)
12. Tom Daschle 0% (-)
The big winner is John Edwards, who jumped up 10% points. The biggest loser was Mark Warner who dropped 14%. Wesley Clark and Tom Daschle weren't included in April's poll. Clark did well getting 9% of the vote. Daschle didn't get any votes, so he might get replaced with Chris Dodd the next time around.
Looking at the big picture, the candidates with the most votes are the non-DLC candidates. 4 of the top 5 are non-DLC candidates. The highest vote getting DLC candidate is Vilsack.
How do the results compare to the number of visits each candidate has made to Iowa? Here is a look at how many trips the candidates have made to Iowa since Nov. 2004. 3 candidates have spent more than 10 days in Iowa. Edwards has been here the most and he got 2nd in the poll. Bayh has spent the 2nd most days in Iowa with 7 trips and spending 16 days in the state. With just 1%, the readers of this blog must not be very impressed with what they see. Biden has spent 12 days in Iowa, but most of them have been in the past couples weeks.
I will have another straw poll up in November following the election.

2008 Straw Poll for April: Final Results
April showers have made way for May flowers, so the April straw poll is closed. Here are the final results with 84 votes being tallied...
1. Russ Feingold 35%
2. Mark Warner 19%
3. Al Gore 14%
4. John Edwards 12%
5. Bill Richardson 6%
6. Tom Vilsack 5%
7. Evan Bayh 4%
8. John Kerry 2%
8. Joe Biden 2%
10. Hillary Clinton 1%
Hillary who? Personally, I think the people that think Hillary will be the nominee tend to be Republicans and this poll shows that. The readers of this blog don't want the same old faces we had in 2004 and it doesn't seem that Vilsack would run away with Iowa if he runs. To see how many visits to Iowa potential candidates have made check Iowa Politics.
Thanks for everyone who voted. I will post another 2008 Straw Poll this summer. In May, I will have a poll on the Governor's race.

April Straw Poll: 2008 Demcratic Nominee for President
I made a straw poll for the 2008 Democratic Nominee for President. Krusty Konservative has one for the Republican side (which has Romney beating Pataki right now), so I thought I would make one for the Good Guys. You can find the Democratic poll on the right hand side above the links.
So, who do you support for the Democratic Nominee for President in 2008?
I will probably do one of these polls every other month.
Thanks for taking the time to vote.
**Update**
I woke this morning, looked at the poll, and realized that I left Wesley Clark off the poll. I will put Clark on the next poll. I guess this is his punishment for skipping Iowa in 2004.
