Child Poverty

This graph is shocking...
I truly believe that we don't have an education problem, but have a child poverty problem. There is no doubt that reducing the rate of child poverty is vital. Reducing child poverty will help increase test scores.

I think you are absolutely right, poverty must be a huge factor in student performance. Look at the countries with lowest poverty rates in this graph and compare to some of the recent Register articles on worldwide test scores. Probably not a coincidence.
