I am at the Marshall County Convention. We are about to break into presidential preference groups. The alternates are signing in at the moment.
The morning so far has been filled with speeches by the various candidates running for office. Steve Sodders, candidate in State Senate District 22, spoke and focused on his involvement in the community. Steve is a deputy sheriff, taught DARE in schools throughout the district, is a junior high wrestling coach, and is on the board of Youth and Shelter Services.
The next speaker was Kurt Meyer, who is running for Congress against Tom Latham. Meyer gave a very polished speech that was very well received. Meyer said, "he is ready to take on Tom Latham and take out Tom Latham." Meyer said his main goals would be to strengthen our economy, bring our troops home, and finding health care solutions.
After the speech, I asked our county if any of the other candidates would be showing up and she said that Meyer was the only who had contacted her. Meyer also has a staffer here passing out stickers and campaign materials. None of the other candidates have a presence here. Kurt Meyer has represented himself well and should win over a lot of people here today.

Kurt Meyer was in Indianola briefly during registration but didn't stay around long. None of the other 4th district congressional candidates came, though I did see a flyer out for Becky Greenwald. Meyer had a good selection of materials and certainly played the part of serious candidate well.
Attorney General Tom Miller came by around 1:00 and gave a nice speech though he rather heavily campaigned for Obama which ranckled some of the Clinton supporters.
All candidates are viable. I believe William Meyers was going through the north and eastern counties, I dont know where the others were though.

In William Meyers' newsletter it said he was only invited to 6 of the 28 county conventions and he made it to a few of them. It's b.s. what the 4th is doing to this guy.
I know! Im one of his County captains and its sad because down here in Story, the biggest democratic county in the fourth and the only one Spencer won in 2006, people love him. We got supporters not only in Ames but Nevada and other rural cities. I dont know if the other guys can get the support from urbanites that Meyers can.

William Meyers should be our candidate for Iowa. He is an average Iowan just like all of us. He WANTS to serve his country a SECOND time (former marine), to make life better for us here in Iowa and in the United States.
Reading differnt blogs, he seems to have a lot of cyber support. Lets change that to real life support. You can contact William through his website meyersforcongress dot com.
Yeah, he does have a lot of cyber support. Its pretty awesome, -
