Greatest Liberal/Progressive Rock Songs

Over at Raising Kaine they have the 50 Greatest Liberal/Progressive Rock Songs.

Here are my top 5 from that list...

5. "Keep on Rockin' in the Free World" (Neil Young)
We got a thousand points of light
For the homeless man
We got a kinder, gentler,
Machine gun hand

4. "A Hard Rain's a Gonna Fall" (Bob Dylan)
Where the people are many and their hands are all empty,
Where the pellets of poison are flooding their waters,
Where the home in the valley meets the damp dirty prison,
Where the executioner's face is always well hidden

3. "Born in the USA" (Bruce Springsteen)
Got in a little hometown jam
So they put a rifle in my hand
Sent me off to a foreign land
To go and kill the yellow man

2. "Power and the Glory" (Phil Ochs)
But our land is still troubled by men who have to hate
They twist away our freedom & they twist away our fate
Fear is their weapon and treason is their cry
We can stop them if we try

1. "Imagine" (John Lennon)
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world

What, no Todd Rundgren? From "Johnee jingo": To the man who owns the land, we're all the same, but when his grip begins to slip, then he'll be calling out your name, Johnee Jingo.

There are lots of other good political Todd Rundgren tunes (both as a solo performer and with the 70s band Utopia).

"Ohio" is possibly the best protest song ever, though.

Yes, it is iconic.

As a devoted Beatles fan the title says it all.

Liberals pursue an imaginary world that has not and never will exist.

Very dangerous when psychos with nukes want to kill you, instead of old scared commies having who really don't want to kill you, have the nukes.

Sporer-
It is very dangerous that pyscho's with nukes want to kill us. Which is why we need to get our troops out of Iraq, so they can focus on tracking down loose nukes and disrupting terror networks that exist all over the world instead of focusing solely on Iraq.

Sporer,
One more thing...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
