The far right is going crazy over Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act, known as the Matthew Shepard Act. The act expands the definition of hate crimes to include those motivated by gender, sexual orientation, gender identity and disability.
On more a serious note, Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC) even went as far as saying Matthew Shepard's attack was a hoax, when in fact he was beaten, tortured, and left hanging on a fence for 18 hours.

I'd really like to see some digging as to which lobbiest wrote the talking points for these charter members of the wacko caucus.
