IA-04: Greenwald Hires Staff

Becky Greenwald, candidate in the Democratic primary in Iowa's 4th district, has recently hired her first two staff members. She has brought on Mark Daley, who was Clinton's Iowa Communication Director. Daley previously worked for Boswell and was the Communication Director for the Iowa Democratic Party in 2004.

Greenwald has also hired Kim Pieper, who did fundraising on Mike Blouin's campaign in the 2006 Democratic primary for Governor and was Selden Spencer's campaign manager.

Greenwald will be holding a fundraiser next week in Waukee to kick off her campaign and I have heard the Vilsacks and Roxanne Conlin will be there.

I got an invitation to that fundraiser. A lot of prominent people are on the host committee, including the Vilsacks, Andy and Dan McGuire, and several women who I know were strong Clinton supporters.

Roxanne Conlin's name is not on the list of hosts they sent out with the invitation, but of course that doesn't mean she won't be at the event.

If anyone from Becky Greenwald's campaign is reading, please encourage her to post diaries occasionally at Bleeding Heartland. Kurt Meyer and William Meyers have been doing so already.

Sounds like a rock star team. I'm betting on Becky.

Becky is a non-starter. It's a two man race for the 4th now. She'll never catch up.

Becky does have an all-star team and I know that there are many many hardcore democrats that are just waiting to support whoever comes out of this, me included. I'm also hoping that the losers will join forces to elect the democratic nominee. We cant have any bad blood here.

Is there any more fundraisers for the fourth candidates?

... Yeah, but Miskell's got Joe Trippi, who was excited enough about the prospects as he read them that he OFFERED to run KM's campaign. Not too shabby...

Years ago I went to Yosemite National Park with some friends. We stayed in a cabin in Yosemite Valley. At the cabin my friends suggested going to Glacier Point and said that it was an hour-long drive.

I was surprised. I pulled out a map and said, "Look, it's not that far away."

They took me outside the cabin, pointed to the top of a 1000-foot wall of rock bounding the valley, and said, "That is Glacier Point."

The Dem candidate faces a similar situation against Latham, and I hope the various teams will unite to complete the long haul to the top.

I think Becky can do it. I will support whoever wins the nomination to the best of my ability. Tom Latham really needs to go.

To DMACC Nurse,
Wasn’t Tom Latham the Congressman who organized the nursing round table discussions? I think it’s interesting that he would take the time to listen to you as a “nurse” and you won’t give him the credit he deserves. He has done a lot for the 4th district and I think you should look at that before you vote for someone just because they have a “D” behind their name!

Kim Pieper is the biggest mistake Selden Spencer ever made. I think it will hurt Becky.
