Poll: Who Should Run in the 4th District?

I have a new poll up asking which Democrat should run in the 4th district. The poll opened up over the weekend and will run until December 11th. The choices are McKinley Bailey, Daryl Beall, Sue Dinsdale, Paul Fitzgerald, Lisa Heddens, Jack Kibbie, Mark Kuhn, and Mark Smith.

Earlier this month, I wrote about possible candidates in the 4th district to run against Tom Latham. Cyclone Conservative posted a response to my post yesterday. He said the Democrats don't have a candidate because Latham is such a good Representative. Not surprisingly, I disagree. I think a big reason is Iowa will be losing a House seat in 2012, so people don't want to leave a safe seat in Des Moines for a few years in DC.

We too are wondering why Meyers and MIskell were left off. Some democracy in the 4th!

This blogger has a tendency to distort the facts. I see another blog where he claims this guy is an Iraq vet, however I haven't come across one bit of evidence stating he ever stepped foot in sand.

This blogger does not represent true blue Democrats and his opinions are lacking substance while supporting Dinsdale pipe dreams.

No offense to Dinsdale, she's done an honorable thing for our troops. But she's best suited for just that, a voice for troops. She has some name recognition, but you have to look at the overall recognition, and just as many folks who support her, think she's lost it .

I have never said who shouldn't run. If Miskell and Myers run then great. They weren't included because they seem to have taken more steps than others to run.

That doesn't mean other candidates can't run. I think a contested primary for a seat like this would be a good thing. Democrats have a shot at gaining a seat in the 4th district if they get the best candidate to run and Democrats come together behind one candidate.

I'd love to learn more about Myers and Miskell, but so far have only heard rumors.

As for Dinsdale, I agree that she has done an honorable thing for our troops and think she is best suited for that. I helped her group out over the summer and am impressed with her dedication. However, I didn't rank her in my top 5. I included her because I had heard her named mentioned as a possible candidate if no one else stepped up.

BTW, who claimed who was an Iraq vet?

We met William Meyers over the weekend at an Edwards event. Someone should sit down with him for an extensive interview, we both found him impressive. Had a nice conversation regarding immigration and I think he has a better approach to immigration than any of the Presidential candidates. Democrats across our nation should really consider his stance.

Can you round up some information with regards to past races? We'd love to read more about past inter-party races for candidates seeking the nomination. How is the 5th shaping up?

Another Democrat has entered the race! Kurt Meyer from St. Ansgar had nomination papers at the caucus. Haven't heard of him, but said he had worked for congress at some level in the past.

I heard William Meyers was going to be interviewed by channel 5? I'd really like to see what he has to say... I checked out his website and its pretty informative, but I'd really like to meet him in person.
