The reason Hillary Clinton is leading national polls is that she has high name recognition.
A new Pew Research survey finds that 78% can name Sen. Hillary Clinton when prompted to "tell me the names of any candidates who are running for the Democratic nomination for President," while 62% can name Sen. Barack Obama and 28% can name John Edwards. It doesn't have anything to do with her policies or the fact that she is a woman. People know who she is.

I think some of it is name recognition, but there is also a concern that Barack's message of hope may not fit with the mood of the country as a recent WaPo article said. I guess another concern for Obama is that hope is such a personal and precious value that you have to be certain you don't try to "own" it. It's not yours, it belongs to everyone.
It's tricky, name recognition certainly matters but the key is that as the primary moves along the top 3 candidates will all get enough attention to break through. I think the key is going to be are they saying anything when the mics finally get turned on?
She might be leading the polls for now, but...
The Ghost of Hillary Past, a must-view film for every American who will be old enough to vote in 2008, has just been released by the same folks who brought you TRYPHORGETIN™.
The Ghost of Hillary Past is a film that takes you to the intersection where past and future meet, to a place where secret things in Hillary Clinton's past -- things long forgotten by the mainstream media -- come to light. A film the Democrat National Committee doesn't want you to see, The Ghost of Hillary Past is rated "R" for the rotten, foul smell of it. To watch the trailer, click here.
[Editor's Note: If you enjoy The Ghost of Hillary Past trailer, then pass it along to every person you know who is -- or will be -- old enough to vote in next year's elections. With a little luck, it will be viewed nearly 700,000 times and spawn a merchandise line just like the TRYPHORGETIN™ video did after it was featured on Rush Limbaugh's radio program and web site. More importantly, I hope it will prompt people to think twice before casting a vote for Hillary Clinton.]
Hillary is NOT the democratic party's panacea. She is nationally reviled and unelectable. If we democrats want to win back the White House, we need to nominate almost any other candidate than Hillary. She's not as 'inevitable' as she thinks she is. This Bush-Clinton-Bush-Clinton dynasty stuff is unAmerican and obscene.
