Tom Harkin said once again on a taping of Iowa Press on Friday that he is not going to be endorsing anyone before the Iowa Caucuses.We've got the best candidates I have seen in a long time. Each one of them makes me proud. Each one of them could get elected president and would make an outstanding president.
Could it be possible that Harkin actually made his endorsement unintentionally
The 2006 Harkin Steak Fry was Obama's first trip to Iowa and jump started his Presidential campaign by introducing Iowa Democrats to Obama and the rock star status ensued.

Obama has been a rock star ever since the 2004 national convention.
I think Harkin wanted him there last year because he would be a big draw and sell lots of tickets. It's a fundraiser for Harkin, after all.
I don't expect Harkin to endorse. What his true feelings are, I have no idea. His wife is obviously backing Hillary.

Yes, he would have ran. He was going to run the day after he gave the keynote address at the '04 convention. Last year's steakfry was his annoucement.
I don't think Harkin will endorse prior to the caucuses because of the Dean fiasco. Everytime they played the "Hee'yaaa!" clip there was Tom Harkin the background. He doesn't want or need that kind of publicity.
