Senate Passes SCHIP

Yesterday, the US Senate passed SCHIP by a 68-31 vote. President Bush has threatened to veto the bill that would expand health care coverage to children. The Senate would need 66 votes to override the veto, so it looks like they have enough votes to do so. Iowa's Charles Grassley voted in favor of expanding SCHIP.

Senator Grassley's speech on the floor was actually very good. "Mr. President, this is your friend Chuck Grassley calling on you to fullfill the promise you made in New York". I don't always see eye to eye with Senator Grassley bit he got it right on this one.
