Tell Boswell He is Wrong on the War

I don't write much about Rep. Boswell for two reasons. First, I am not in his district and secondly, there is a lot I don't agree with him on. The war and occupation in Iraq is one of these issues.

Boswell made the front of Irregular Times today for his support of the war and siding with the Republicans on the issue.

Just for the record, two out of the three Democrats representing Iowa in the United States House of Representatives voted the way that their supporters, and the majority of the American people, wanted them two vote. When they were presented with legislation to give George W. Bush the green light to keep American soldiers in Iraq with no plan to bring them home, and not even any guarantees that they receive the proper training, Representatives Bruce Braley and Dave Loebsack did the right thing. They voted no.

Their Democratic colleague, Leonard Boswell did not. Congressman Boswell voted along with the Republican Party to extend the occupation of Iraq, throwing billions of dollars to George W. Bush for him to spend with no strings attached.

Is that what Leonard Boswell was elected to do?

That’s up to the Democrats in Iowa’s 3rd congressional district to consider. If I were a Democrat living in Leonard Boswell’s district in Iowa, I’d be asking him some challenging questions about this vote, and expecting a good explanation along with a plan for how he intends to make up for his mistake.

If I didn’t hear that (which the constituents of Leonard Boswell so far have not heard), I’d be looking hard to find a Democrat to challenge Representative Boswell in the 2008 Democratic primary.

The article pretty sums up Boswell's support for keeping our troops in Iraq. If you live in the 3rd district, please consider giving his office a call or write him a letter. Here is the information for his Des Moines office...
