Iowa City is One of the Top Bike and Walker Friendly Cities

A recent US Census report shows that Iowa City has the highest percentage of people that walk to work and is 2nd in the percentage of people that bike to work.

3. Santa Barbara, CA - 2.5%

Walking to Work: Top 3 Metros

1. Iowa City, IA - 5.9%
2. New York, NY - 5.7%
3. Madison, WI - 4.5%

And the sad news from the report...

Driving to work was the favored means of commute of nearly nine out of 10 workers (87.7 percent), with most people (77 percent) driving alone.
