Free Ice Cream, Renewable Energy, and Sensible Priorities on Saturday

Free Ice Cream, Renewable Energy, and Sensible Priorities I-Renew and Sensible Iowans partner for an afternoon of ice cream, short films, and conversation

West Branch Our dangerous dependence on fossil fuels is a top concern for many Iowa Caucus-goers. That's why I-Renew is joining Iowans for Sensible Priorities to discuss the problem and provide a simple solution an investment from the federal government to lead the nation towards renewable energy solutions.

To start the conversation, clips will be shown from Why We Fight by Eugene Jarecki, a documentary about Pentagon waste and the military industrial complex, and Kilowatt Ours a film by Jeff Barrie which discusses energy conservation and alternative energy sources.

Iowans for Sensible Priorities advocates trimming $60 billion in waste from the Pentagon budget and shifting that money toward other priorities such as alternative energy research, education, and health care.

Participants will also learn how to talk to the presidential candidates about alternative energy and sensible federal budget priorities.

The event is free and open to the public. Free Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream will be provided.
