Iraq Hits Home

I have frequently written about my opposition to the War in Iraq and the occcupation that has followed. Much of my disaproval comes from seeing so many young soliders, who are also in their 20's, being killed. So far 2,720 US Soliders have died in the Iraq conflict.

Over the weekend 2 soliders from Iowa died in Iraq, one of which I knew personally. His family is one of the nicest that I know. Though he was not in his 20's, he still had many more years left to live. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. May peace prevail.

How did he feel about the war?

I have a problem with you using his memory to help support your opinion if he believed in what he died for.

What's worse: the soldier dying for what he believed in? Or you politicizing it?

There is a time for the anti-war debate, but that time isn't in the wake of the families mourning.

If hoping that the no more soldiers are killed is a political stance than I guess I am guilty. I would think that the number one way to support our troops is by wishing for a safe return.

I never mentioned anything in this post about bringing the troops home, which is a political matter.

Right...

You happen to pimp every Democratic candidate, but your opposition to the war isn't politicial.

O.K. got it.

Pimp every Democratic candidate? I have written numerous times railing the corporate Democrats and the DLC. I have not written many postives things about Vilsack or Boswell and have been against Joe Lieberman and other Democrats like him.

As for the politicizing the Iraq War. Yes, I have written about my opposition and discussed it as a political issue that it is, but I did not mention that at all in the post about the 2 Iowa soliders. I made the post to honor the sacrifice of these soldiers and their families, especially since I know one of them.

Hoping that their sacrifice does not bring about peace is unAmerican. Every American's should wish for the safe return of our soldiers and hope for peace. The fact that people like you have other motives, explains a lot about the mess we have in our nation.

Motives?

People like me?

WTF?

I called you on your post. You disagree with my opinion. I disagree with yours. How the hell it that a some twisted motive?

Oh, wait...you must think this some "right wing conspiracy...?"

And just to be clear, just because there are people who don't agree with you, doesn't make that disagreement the root of all problems in America. I can assure you the problems in America are a lot deeper and bigger than my "motives."

There should be 2 things that all Americans should agree on. I don't think they are political at all. 1. Our soldiers sacrifice should result in a more peaceful world. 2. While they are fighting, we hope for our soldiers to be safe.

It seems to me that you disagree with these.

If it makes it easier for you to dismiss my arguments then you go ahead believe whatever you want about me.

I am sorry if I don't subscribe to the notion that peace and democracy in the Middle East is like impulse buying a pack of gum in the checkout aisle. It takes time...may I draw your attention to the US or Germany or Japan or...

And I very much wish for the safety of the soldiers, but I also believe they have a job to do. Don't believe me? Go read any one of the many military blogs out there. The soldiers want to finish the job...we need to let them.

According to Jordan, if someone you know dies, you're not allowed to talk about it.
